Did I mention the fact that I’ve spent 40 euro to finlly get to Lisboa and I had to omit Faro, as it wasn’t possible to get there? I probably dd, so now you probably reckon as I ha, that Lisboa had to be worth all of this – and it was!

If you are about to use buses and metro there, buy a special card to charge it later, it costs barely nothing and works mostly the same as Oyster Card in London city. Buying this car was the first thing we’ve done after taking a nap on the bus station in Lisboa. We had to get to Oeiras, where our CS host Joao lives. The temperature was quite low, it was much windier and colder.

We’ve left everything at Joao’s and went to Cascais to catch a bus to Cabo da Roba – most western point on the map of Europe :). It costs about 3,15 euro each way to get there with a bus, but it’s worth it. I’m actually a bit crazy about nature, especially when I visit lots of cities – it’s a good rest for a while, even if you’re not a nature type of person.

On the way back to Oeiras we stayed at Cascais beach and it was exactly as Joao said – full of old women thinking they’re young, reach and beautiful. So I am not going to recommend that one. When we’ve came back we cooked a dinner, drunk some beers with Joao and went to sleep quite early to hit Lisboa next day. Our host gave us all hints we needed to sightsee Belem. It is a part of cit quite far from a centre, mostly by the water with lots of huge monuments.

We also went to a patisserie, where I had a pleasure to taste a typical portugese cake – Bolo de Bolacha. Later we’ve also tried most known ones – Pasteis and Salami. Here you can find a recipe for Bolo de Bolacha, it’s really easy to make, but tastes amazing! I’ll probably do that one for my b-day: http://pinterest.com/pin/221802350369968818/

Now was the time to find some beach by the ocean. Not that easy, but we did it. We took a bus to Costa de Caparica – not the best beach there as we’ve realized later, but still a good one. And the ocean. Cold and wonderful! Funny thing – we fell asleep when taking a sunbath, woke up about an hour later and saw the water so close to us, cause of tidal wave. What if we were asleep for another hour or two? Haha.

Next day was our last one (if you pronounce Lisboa in portuguese way it’s /li:3’boʊə/, which means in Polish “lick a boa” – “liż boa”). Anyway, we finally had to see a proper centre of Lisboa, so we took everything we needed from Oeiras and went there for almost more than 24h. Accidently we went to a less known part of town, where no tourists and so on were seen – wonderful! I didn’t manage to take any good pictures, but here are some less good:

I’ve almost forgot! There is one defiite MUST SEE in Lisboa. It’s MUSEUM OF DESIGN, located behind the biggest square in the old town. It’s free of charge and it’s amazing with all of its 3 or even 4 floors. It’s quite a new one, giving you a lot of informations about design and modern architecture. Really impressive.

In the evening we went to the club district to a psytrance party, ended up with some locals in a club on the beach – can’t remember the name, but there are lots of them, situated near to Cais do Sodre (train ). Really worth visiting! Remember, that in Portugal you don’t have to pay a entrance fee, but you become a ticket on which you’ll get a stamp for each drink you buy in a club. There is always written, that you have to spent f.e.x at least 10. The payment comes at the end… May finish bad if you’re drunk…

At the 18th July we took our flight to Munich. We were supposed to stay there, but we’ve finally slept on the airport and started hitchhiking back to Poland in the morning. We were standing 3 hours at the same spot. A bus driver has even stopped to give us a package of gummi/jelly bears :D.

What else? As always in Germany, we’ve met lots of wonderful ho helpes us to get home asap. Special greets for Dominik, who’s keen on travelling as we are and for all other drivers who took us that day (“Aufwachen! Aufawachen!” or the one proposing us wurst and cucumbers).

Obviously, when we got to Poland our driver wasn’t that pleasent anymore, it was late at night and I’ve even woke up cause of a light of fotoradar, which took him a photo as he was driving too fast.

END OF STORY :C

About travelographyyy

I'm almost 25 years old, polish, vegetarian, crazy about languages and travelling, addicted to hardcore punk and electronic music. Lately interested in photography as well (analog and modern). Have no big experience in both - writing nor photoshooting, though once had a blog concerning vegan/vegetarian food recipes - just another hobby. Hope you're enjoying my pretty weird style of writing :). Excuse me all of mistakes made in english. You can also check some of my photos here: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/travel-o-graphy .
